On May 7th, my wife, Lori, and I met with the Buzz Ware Bookies.
This Arden, Delaware, book group invited my wife, Lori, and me to join their meeting via an online platform. It was a way for readers to interact not only with me, but to query Lori about her perspective on living with an addict.
Though we were 3000 miles apart, the meeting was intimate, and we all felt it was a successful way to meet the author.

I was honored to be invited to do a book reading at Bloomsbury Books in Ashland, Oregon. My wife, Lori, and I read from Behind the Badge and answered community members’ questions about addiction and its impact on our lives.
If you are ever in Ashland, Bloomsbury Books carries my book along with books by many local authors.

On March 11th, we held a book launch party at Noble Coffee Roasting to celebrate Behind The Badge.
There were some poignant questions, and we had an interesting discussion on trauma, mental health, addiction, recovery, and hope.

It’s Never Too Late to be a Student
On November 4th, I was honored to be the guest speaker at two Rogue Community College’s composition classes.
It was the first time I spoke in public about Behind the Badge. I was terrified. But the students’ openness and honesty allowed me to be vulnerable. I learned that people are more empathetic than I thought.
They must have a good teacher!
